Visa newsStudent visa savings requirement rises on 30 November 2026
If you're planning to apply for a UK Student visa, the amount of money you need to show is going up. The new amounts take effect on 30 November 2026.
What's changing
When you apply for a Student visa, you usually have to show you have enough money to support yourself, on top of your course fees. The monthly amounts are rising:
- Courses in London: from £1,529 to £1,570 a month
- Courses outside London: from £1,171 to £1,203 a month
The key date
The new amounts take effect on 30 November 2026. Applications made before then are decided under the rules in force on 29 November 2026.
How the money rule works
- You show the monthly amount for up to 9 months.
- You must have held the money for at least 28 days in a row.
- If you've been living in the UK with a visa for at least 12 months before you apply, you don't need to show this money.
